Louth must concentrate on own game - O'Boyle
Louth Juniors will be hoping to extend an already successful year for the county when they travel to Breffni Park for their All-Ireland semi-final clash with Sligo.
Following their impressive run on the way to the Leinster title, Louth will go into the game full of confidence and Paddy O’Boyle believes that a repeat of the skill and hunger that they have shown so far will give the Wee County every chance of making the final.
“To be honest I personally don’t know much about Sligo but I’m sure Peter Fitzpatrick will have done his homework as he has had a couple of weeks to prepare for this.
“However, I expect that as in previous games we will be concentrating on our own game rather than worrying too much about the opposition. We know we have a good side and if we focus on getting our game right then we have every chance of winning”, explained Paddy.
In what is expected to be a tough battle with the Connacht champions, the Louth attacker believes that the Wee County won’t be found wanting on the day.
“Any time you play in an All-Ireland semi-final it is a big game so we will be going all out to win it. We have proved over the last couple of games that we can play in all types of conditions and will battle right to the end.
“Even when we were four points behind Cavan in the Leinster Final with ten minutes to play, we didn’t panic. I don’t think anybody thought about the scoreboard, we just kept plugging away and came out on top. That sort of attitude will be essential on Monday”, he explained.
The match was originally scheduled for Saturday August 8th but was brought forward at the request of Sligo, but Paddy believes it will also be a great benefit to Louth.
“I think having the game on Monday suits most of us as it has been a few weeks since the Leinster Final and we just can’t wait to get out on the field”, added Paddy.
Already it has been a great season for O’Boyle who had the honour of captaining Louth against Galway in a challenge match to mark the opening of the St Nicholas pitch in June.
“I suppose it has been a good year and it was a great honour for me to lead the team out as not too many people get to captain Louth on their home pitch.”
